The Department of Botany was established in 1981and Microbiology was introduced in 2006.
The Department offers undergraduate course with Zoology and Chemistry as other subjects.
Aims of the department:-
Botany as a subject is related to the study of plants and a career in it would mean studying in depth about plants, fungi, algae, diseases, growth, metabolism and the structure between different groups. A person who works in this field is called a Botanist. It will be the job of the botanist to study plant life along with finding solutions to problems related to that of forest and agriculture. There are also botanists who deal with space travel agriculture, artificial environments, hydroponics and various other interesting areas of research. Botanists are required by varied organisations ranging from multinationals to research organisations to hospitality and tourism bodies, depending upon the nature of their activities. They fit into different roles depending on the activity of the organization.
Microbiology is a broad discipline of biology with works with the function, structure, uses, and the existence of the microscopic organism (microorganisms). Microorganisms are those organisms which are very small can't be seen with the naked eyes. The microorganisms which are studied in Microbiology include algae, viruses, protozoan, fungi and bacteria. The immense research and findings with the help of Microbiology has not only helped human beings to fight the ill-effects of these organisms but on the contrary, helped many industries produce products for the well fare and profit of other living beings. Microbiology is a wide field which offers many specializations for instance, Marine Microbiologists, Agricultural Microbiologists and Industrial Microbiologist etc. A person who specializes in this field is called as Microbiologists. The role of Microbiologists is to ensure our food is safe or not, developing green technologies, treating and preventing disease or tracking the role of microbes in the climate change. In the recent years, Microbiology has created a lot of buzz and gained popularity leading to a rush in the number of students who are looking forward to pursuing microbiology as a career.
Microbiology is a broad term studying microorganisms that includes Bacteriology, Virology, Molecular biology, Mycology, Parasitology, and other branches. A Microbiologist is a specialist required in quality assurance of the product be it a food, pharmacy product or for initializing any tests that have to be performed in vitro before testing in vivo or other higher living systems. We offer courses as mentioned below which are recognized by Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.
